Commercial cooling cycle

The inverter compressor pushes hot, high-pressure vapour to the outdoor coil, where it rejects heat and condenses to liquid. The electronic expansion valve drops the pressure, and the cold refrigerant boils off in the indoor coil, absorbing heat from your space.

Service Level Agreements

Planned maintenance that protects uptime and lowers total cost of ownership.

Commercial retainers and SLAs are the core of what we do. Each agreement is customised to how your systems are used, so office complexes, retail centres and cold-chain sites get the visit frequency and response they actually need.

  1. Site assessment & asset register

We survey every indoor and outdoor unit, record model, capacity, refrigerant and condition, and flag risks before they become failures. (Call-out fee applies.)

  2. Custom preventive schedule

Visit frequency is set by duty cycle and criticality: monthly for mission-critical rooms, quarterly or bi-annually for standard comfort cooling.

  3. Logged service on every visit

Filters, coils, drains, electrical connections, pressures and temperatures are checked and recorded, so you can see system health trend over time.

  4. Priority response

Our Lead Engineer responds to SLA clients within an hour during business hours (Mon–Fri, 08:00–16:00), with repairs typically scheduled within about three days.

For facility managers & property groups

Why preventive beats reactive

Reactive "fix it when it breaks" maintenance looks cheaper until a chiller trips on a trading Saturday. A structured SLA turns unpredictable breakdowns into planned, budgeted work.

  • Lower energy bills: clean coils and filters let the system reach setpoint with less compressor run-time.
  • Fewer emergency failures: worn components are replaced on schedule, not during a heatwave or trading peak.
  • Longer equipment life: correctly charged, well-maintained compressors last longer, deferring capital replacement.
  • Compliance on file: refrigerant work by SAQCC Gas registered technicians, with records that support audits and tenant obligations.

About Meraki

Engineering with soul since 2016.

Meraki Air Conditioning was founded in 2016 by a certified industrial refrigeration engineer with more than 15 years' experience across the HVAC-R and electrical industries. He is one of the few engineers certified by Samsung South Africa as a DVM and DVM S installer, and holds dealer and installer credentials with Daikin, Carrier, LG, Alliance and Aux.

Today the business is built around commercial retainers and SLAs for office complexes and retail centres, supported by industrial refrigeration and selected luxury residential work. Every site is led by an engineer, not a salesperson.

Who provides Samsung DVM S commercial HVAC installation in Durban?

Meraki Air Conditioning, based in Phoenix Industrial Park, Durban, is certified by Samsung South Africa as a DVM and DVM S installer. We design, supply, install, commission and maintain Samsung DVM S variable refrigerant systems for office complexes, retail centres and large residences from Durban to the North Coast, including Umhlanga, Ballito and Salt Rock.

What are SARACCA compliance standards for commercial air conditioning in KZN?

SARACCA (the South African Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association) is the industry body whose member contractors agree to a common set of governing standards, and it processes refrigeration and air conditioning practitioner registrations on behalf of SAQCC Gas.

The legal requirement sits in the Pressure Equipment Regulations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act: anyone installing, repairing or maintaining refrigeration or air conditioning gas systems must be an SAQCC Gas registered authorised person, and a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) must be issued after a gas installation or modification. Meraki is a SARACCA member and our refrigerant technicians are SAQCC Gas registered.

How does a commercial SLA preventive maintenance plan work?

A Service Level Agreement starts with a site assessment and asset register of every unit. We then set a planned visit schedule (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly or bi-annual) based on how critical each system is, service and log each unit on every visit, and give SLA clients priority response: our Lead Engineer responds within an hour during business hours. The result is fewer breakdowns, lower energy use and longer equipment life, which lowers total cost of ownership.

What is the difference between VRV, VRF and DVM air conditioning?

They are the same core technology. VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) is the generic engineering term; VRV is Daikin's trademarked name for its VRF systems; and DVM / DVM S is Samsung's VRF range. All use inverter compressors to vary refrigerant flow to many indoor units from one outdoor plant, so each zone gets exactly the capacity it needs.

How quickly does Meraki respond to enquiries and breakdowns?

Our Lead Engineer, Samuel, responds to new enquiries within one hour during business hours (Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00). Repairs are typically completed with a lead time of about three days, depending on parts. We do not offer 24/7 or weekend call-outs.

Which areas does Meraki Air Conditioning cover?

We cover Durban to the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, including Durban Central, Durban North, Phoenix, Verulam, Mount Edgecombe, Umhlanga, La Lucia, Umdloti, Tongaat, Ballito, Zimbali and Salt Rock. Larger commercial projects further afield, such as regional shopping centres, are considered on request.

Do you charge for site assessments and quotes?

Yes, a call-out fee applies to site assessments. Quotes for installations and SLAs are prepared after the site visit, so they are based on your actual equipment and building rather than guesswork.

Which air conditioning brands does Meraki supply and install?

We are an authorised dealer and installer for Samsung, Daikin, Carrier, LG, Alliance and Aux, and service most other commercial brands.

Do you still do residential air conditioning?

Yes. Residential work is around 10% of our business and focuses on luxury homes and estates, typically ducted, multi-split and VRF systems where performance and finish matter.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept EFT, cash and card.
